About Our Rabbinic Team
Welcome Rabbi Raphy & Deborah Garson! Weโre excited to welcome Rabbi Raphy and Deborah Garson to Tiferet Eyal! After 18 incredible years building the Ohr Yisrael community in Borehamwood, they now bring their warmth, energy, and deep passion for Torah and inclusion to our kehilla. Originally from Manchester and Gibraltar, Rabbi Garson studied in Israel, earned a degree from Kingโs College, and received Semicha under the Chief Rabbinate and Harav Mordechai Eliyahu zโl. Heโs also a senior JRoots & HET educator, guiding thousands of Jews and non Jews through powerful heritage trips to Poland. He also guides regularly in Morocco, Spain and Portugal. Deborah, a Hasmonean alumna, studied at Michlalah and earned a first-class degree in Education & IT at Middlesex University. With further training in special needs, family dynamics, and mental health, she brings wisdom and care to every corner of community life. Together, theyโre ready to build, inspire, and connect. Their home is open, their hearts are full, and they canโt wait to grow Tiferet Eyal with you.
Our Chairman โDovi is one of the founding members of Tiferet Eyal. He comes with a bundle of energy that canโt be missed. As the Chairman of the Committee his job is to ensure the Shul is infused with energy! Pop by and see for yourself.โ Picture currently on Tiferet Eyal Website
Our Chazan “Meet David Raymond, โDadoโ our resident hazan and son of our dear founder, Frankie Raymond. David leads all the Teffilot with a middle eastern tune, keeping in line with our traditions. But David brings so much more: a huge repertoire encompassing the entire Jewish world, and an angelic voice that pierces hearts and moves souls. Join us and hear him sing!”
History
Tiferet Eyal, founded by Ephraim Raymond (Frankie zโl) in memory of his beloved son, Eyal Raymond zโl, was built on acceptance, love, and humour. Over the years, it has grown into a warm and welcoming community โ a Sefardi shul with its doors wide open to all who seek connection and meaning.
Several Ashkenazim also feel completely at home here, embraced by the inclusive spirit that defines Tiferet Eyal. In continuing Frankieโs vision, we promise to welcome you with good energy, an open heart, and a big smile.
